Platypuses Platypi Platypodes

The plural of platypus is cause for debate among many many third-graders.
I personally like Platypodes best platypuses second and I don't use platypi.

The platypus is a wonderful animal
It is one of the few mammals that lays eggs. But that's not the cool part
the Platypus has electric field sensors in the beak like nose it has.
It uses these electric field sensors to sense preys from the nerve impulses of their muscles.

Did you know that a moving electric field is felt like a magnetic field. I don't plan to get into all of maxwell's equations in this post but if you know what i'm talking about you are probably already thinking the same thing I am:

Imagine a Platypus getting an MRI while blindfolded. It must feel like a hundred thousand river eels are swimming counter clockwise circles around him. If he was hungry you would probably hear the loudest platypus there ever was.

Oh yes! platypodes have poisonous talons so don't annoy them too much. and make sure they take off all metal jewelery and accessories before stepping into the MRI machine and platypodes with pacemakers or implanted metallic prostheses may not get MRIs

If you're nice to platypodes they may help you in your physics homework.

I'm very fond of the duckbill platypus! Maybe two or three years ago, about when you wrote this post, I read an article about an entire community (well, more like 15 or 20) of urban platypii, sorry, platypodes. They live, and in fact thrive, in a city of the Southern Hemisphere, probably in Australia or Indonesia.

It was quite a shock (bad pun, I'm unrepentant) to learn that the platypus has claws, with electrical features, no less! I think there's something asymmetric about the claws. Maybe the males have them, females don't? Perhaps it isn't based on gender, but front/back i.e. electro-claw on hind limbs, not fore limbs?

Maxwell's equations are fine to behold. I had a nice t-shirt a la nerd with them, many a year ago. I was a mediocre physics major and morphed into a mathemtics/ statistics major after quantum mechanics.

I once experienced having my head MRI'd, which wasn't nearly as bad as you'd think. Nor as unsettling as it would be for a platypus! Mostly because one's body isn't in the MRI, and one doesn't see the MRI either. They put a soft cloth over my forehead and eyes, and the technicians talked to me over the speakers, as earphones would have interfered. After awhile, the technicians got bored, but one was a woman, who hummed loudly and in tune as she worked. It was very soothing, enough so that I actually fell asleep and overall, considered it a surprisingly pleasant experience.

I have a nice photo of two young platypodes, as you would say. I will leave a link here for you, it isn't spam in any way whatsoever. You would know where to find me, on Blogger, to retaliate!

I enjoy glancing at your blog, and subscribed long after your last post. No intended pressure on you to write more until, or if ever you are inclined. There is a lot here for me to enjoy for awhile.
Regards,
Ellie K
